It’s Thursday – what do I do now?

Good morning. You’re embarking on one of the greatest of life’s Journeys. So, I have a few suggestions that might help make this adventure even more powerful.

  • I suggest setting the old alarm clock at least an hour and fifteen minutes earlier than normal. The fifteen minutes is for the purpose of waking up, and the hour will be your time with God. I believe over the period of the forty days you’ll be wanting to increase this time with God even more!
  • Find a place you will call your “sanctuary” alone from the telephone and other distractions.
  • Go before God in prayer with a sense of adventure. Allow Him to do the majority of speaking over these forty days.
  • As you read through the study be sensitive to what God’s Spirit is telling you. Pause where you find His voice through the words, prayers, and scripture.
  • Take what you learn from this time with you throughout the day. Meditating as often as possible on the key insights.
  • Before bed thank God for what you learned. Consider where you sensed God was with you throughout the day, as well as how at times you might have wandered off.
  • Give thanks for the days’ journey!

God’s blessings on you,

Pastor Rik

Tonight’s Day of Ashes service was a great kick start to our 40 Day Journey with Jesus and each other. Thanks Pastor Steve and Pastor Rik for leading us tonight. God please everyone of us to become closer than we have ever been in our whole lives. Please build a new habit around spending every day in prayer with you and to close our nights with scanning over our whole day to see where you were with us. Be the air we breath God.

It was totally a blessing for me personally. I watched God move through His people. It was great just to be a part of that service!

I’m a little fearful of change… but that is the life of a Christian! We should be always changing to be more like Jesus, to be ‘transformed by the renewing of our minds.’ It’s quite a relief, though, to take my hands off the wheel and let my Father steer. Then, I become like a little child, with none of the pressures of navigating — just happy to be on a journey with my Daddy, feeling carefree and full of delight! And I know that this surrender pleases Him, too. And pleasing Him feels WAY better than pleasing me!!! Woo hoo! Let’s go!
